Recently after launching Google Finance News, Google decided to make some renovations to the service and consequently added some additional features. The additional features included a new homepage featuring currency information, sector performance for the United States market along with a list of top market movers with relevant and important news of the day.
In the new version, a top movers section was added whose credibility was based on Google Trends. A chart was also featured containing up to 40 years of data for U.S. stocks and portfolios. In 2008, both NASDAQ and New York Stock Exchange partnered with Google Finance News. This brought another update in which a real-time ticker for stocks was available. In November 2008, an advertising feature was added to Google Finance News.
Google Finance News – Why Google Dropped Finance Portfolio?

Since 2008, Google Finance News has not undergone any update. In September 2017, google told that the site was under some renovation and that the portfolio feature of Google Finance News will not be available after November 2017.
In 2018, according to a notice, the website was revamped but the portfolio feature was removed. Although there was no clear indication of this move. The stocks from the old portfolio were migrated to the new website and an option was provided to the users to download the portfolio as a CSV file.
